If it is up to the Minister, the amounts for traffic fines will increase again next year by 2,7%. Today, the Minister of Justice and Security Ferdinand Grapperhaus presented the draft decree of the Administrative Law Enforcement Traffic Regulations Act and the Public Prosecution Service Decree.

The House must pronounce on the draft decision before it will be submitted to the Advisory Division of the Council of State and subsequently adopted. Pursuant to the provisions, the nomination for the King to obtain the advice of the Advisory Division of the Council of State on the draft decision shall be made no earlier than four weeks after the draft decision has been submitted to both Houses of the States General.

The draft decision amends, among other things, the appendix to the Wahv and primarily serves to fix the annual inflation correction of the rates of the traffic fines.

Like other years, the amounts based on annual inflation. This percentage is 2020 percent in 2,7 and is based on the consumer price index (CPI) in the period from June 2017 to June 2018. Specifically, this means that speeding fines will increase by a few euros. The aim is to enter into force of the draft decision with effect from 1 January 2020.
