Kiwa wants to further increase the price of tachograph cards in 2020, while Minister Van Nieuwenhuizen recently said he wants to lower the prices. And despite the poor performance of Kiwa. To be incomprehensible and unacceptable KNV, TLN and evofenedex.

Kiwa now proposes to increase the price of the cards by one euro to 101 euros. KNV, TLN and evofenedex have been urging for years to lower prices considerably, because prices in the Netherlands are much higher than in almost all other European countries. The Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management, who sets the prices after advice from Kiwa, also said in June that she wants prices to go down. And that it must be clear before the end of the year with what amount the price will fall. This is also in line with a 2014 broadloom motion that calls for tariffs to be lowered. The three organizations urge the minister to keep to that commitment, and certainly not to approve Kiwa's proposal.

Research is not yet in progress.

In June, Minister van Nieuwenhuizen indicated that a price reduction should be achieved on the basis of a 'tariff system' (already announced in 2016) for tachograph cards and various other documents. The minister commissioned an investigation into the rates in other European countries. This study is expected to be completed this summer, she said in June. She later indicated that the study would not be completed until after the summer. The results of the study are still not there.

European price averages 59 euros.

Because it was taking so long, TLN colleagues conducted an inventory this summer of the prices of tachograph cards in other EU Member States. This shows that tachograph cards cost an average of € 28 in the 59 EU Member States. Entrepreneurs pay 100 euros for a tachograph card in the Netherlands, which is 70 percent higher than in the rest of Europe. Cards are cheaper in 24 Member States than in the Netherlands, which means that the Netherlands is in the top 3 of most expensive cards.

Kiwa stacks error on error.

In addition, entrepreneurs have been reporting errors from Kiwa to TLN, KNV and evofenex for years. Errors that the Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management is also aware of. Most recently, problems were encountered with the delivery of the generation 2 tachograph cards that can be used in the new smart tachograph, which Kiwa had to supply earlier this year. At the time, Kiwa was unable to deliver both the cards that technicians use in the workshops and the cards for entrepreneurs and drivers on time. It is still not known when the Dutch driver card and company card will be definitively approved.
