Recently, the rechtbank a 51-year-old man from Harderwijk to a 30-month prison sentence, 10 months of which were suspended for fraud, forgery and money laundering in a biodiesel scandal.
The main suspect was also guilty of forgery in the trade of so-called biotickets. These biotickets stated that large quantities of biodiesel had been brought onto the Dutch market by the biodiesel company without this actually happening. This earned the company approximately 2 million euros.
Two fellow suspects, the 47-year-old woman of the main suspect and a 52-year-old man from Wijhe, were sentenced to suspended prison terms and community service. A fourth suspect, a 54-year-old man from Kampen, was acquitted.
Recently, the State Secretary informed the House by letter, with the ILT's signal report in the appendix, about a large-scale international criminal investigation into biodiesel fraud.

The State Secretary of Veldhoven - Van der Meer writes to the House that she takes the case and the suspicion of fraud very seriously. After all, fraud can affect the confidence that parties must have in the biofuel market. The sustainability of the biofuels that are used as renewable energy must be guaranteed.
Certainly in view of the role that (advanced) biofuels will play in our energy supply in the coming years as a transition fuel towards zero-emission transport. The current use of biofuels takes place within the framework of the European Renewable Energy Directive (RED)
In the coming period, the Secretary of State will continue to work closely with public sector bodies, such as NEa en ILT, and the private domain and strives to forward the chain analysis to the House at the end of the year.
