A bus driver from the transporter Arriva has twice asked a woman with a nikab in Stein, Limburg, to free her face or leave the bus. When the woman did not and also did not leave the bus, the driver decided to call the police and postpone the onward journey.

The police came to the scene and started talking to the woman, after which the woman eventually left the woman voluntarily on the bus.

Instructions prepared for the employees.

Despite everything, a transport company Arriva states that the driver has not fully acted in accordance with the guidelines because, despite the prohibition, a passenger with a valid ticket cannot be forced to leave the vehicle because there is a transport obligation.

That's where the shoe pinches this new rule that says that as of August 1, wearing face-covering clothing in education, healthcare, public transport and in government buildings no longer allowed. The transport obligation is diametrically opposed to this and is the reason for Arriva to tap the driver's fingers.

The public transport companies have drawn up clear instructions for employees about the partial ban on face-covering clothing. It clearly states that investigative officers are not competent and only the police can enforce the ban.

Violation of the prohibition will incur a fine of 150 euros. In this case, the police have chosen not to impose a fine.
