The Rotterdam bicycle rental company Gobike is bankrupt. A postponement of payment was already requested. Two years ago Gobike came to Rotterdam with the electric shared bicycles. The bicycle came after the introduction of the oBike, the first bicycle sharing system in Rotterdam. Gobike Nederland BV was granted temporary suspension of payments on 5 August. RCM van Moorsel was appointed as administrator.

Gobike won a tender in 2014 that was launched to improve accessibility in the Rotterdam The Hague Metropolitan Area. The administrator is now investigating how serious the problems are and whether bankruptcy can still be prevented.

Two years ago Gobike came to Rotterdam with the electric shared bikes. The bicycle came after the introduction of the GoBike, the first shared bicycle system in Rotterdam. This gray-yellow bicycle caused a lot of annoyance for Rotterdammers, because the bicycle could be left everywhere and was therefore also called the 'smijtfiets' or 'stray bike'. GoBike's Dutch branch went bankrupt last year.

Gobike has 21 fixed bicycle sharing stations in Rotterdam, which means that the bicycle does not wander through the city, just like the GoBike and Mobike. A small number of bicycles are currently parked at the fixed sharing stations, but it is unclear whether they can still be used.

In Rotterdam, shared bicycles are also offered by Mobike, Donkey Republic and Flickbike. The creditors' meeting on November 19, 2019 at 15:00.
