De Lijn will install new screens in the autumn for real-time travel information at tram and bus stops. Of the 280 screens that will be installed, 115 will be in the province of Antwerp.

The economical LCD screens are battery operated and the information is provided via mobile internet. So there is no digging to lay cables. The supplier, Axentia, previously placed the same screens for the Brussels transport company STIB.

Of the 280 screens, 115 will be located in Antwerp, where De Lijn has the largest presence. In addition, there will be 14 screens in Limburg, 69 in East Flanders, 63 in Flemish Brabant and 19 in West Flanders.

In a subsequent phase, another 710 information screens may be added. All in all it concerns an investment of 2,7 million euros.
